Sundarban 1 Night 2 Days Tour from Kolkata
The 1 Night 2 Days Sundarban package is the shortest trip that still includes a night in the delta. It starts at Rs. 4,400 per person plus 5% GST for a basic cottage, Rs. 5,100 for a deluxe cottage with air conditioning, and Rs. 6,000 for a premium organic cottage. You leave Kolkata at 8:00 am on day one and return by 9:00 to 10:00 pm on day two.
The shape of it is simple. Day one is water and village, day two is forest. You reach the eco village on the island of Satjelia by early afternoon, walk out through the paddy fields, take a country boat out for birds and sunset, and sit through a Bonobibi Pala performance after dinner. Day two is the real safari, starting at 6:30 am on a motorised boat that covers the Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali and Dobanki watchtowers before you turn back for Kolkata.

DAY 01
Into the Sundarbans
Travel from Calcutta to Godkhali and onward to the eco village on Satjelia Island, with village walks, birdwatching and an evening of local culture.

Departure from Calcutta
Meet us at our office at 4 Tottee Lane and leave Calcutta by car, van or mini bus towards Godkhali. The journey takes about three and a half hours, with washroom breaks along the way.
9:00 AM
Breakfast on the Way
A breakfast of fresh vegetable sandwiches is served during the journey. If it suits you better, pickup from Science City can be arranged at 9:00 AM.
12:00 PM
Arrive at Godkhali
Arrive at Godkhali, where you can choose between crossing Gosaba Island by auto rickshaw or taking a direct engine boat. The boat journey takes about two and a half to three hours depending on the tide.
1:30–2:30 PM
Eco Village & Lunch
Reach the eco village on Satjelia Island. Enjoy simple home-cooked food with a vegetarian or non-vegetarian choice, including rice, dal, three vegetables, papad, chutney, salad and fish curry.
3:00 PM
Village & Paddy Field Walk
Walk through the village and surrounding paddy fields. Meet the communities of honey collectors and fishermen and discover life at the edge of a tiger reserve.
3:30 PM
Country Boat Birdwatching
Take a one to two hour country boat ride through the mangroves. Look for seven species of kingfisher, along with egrets, Brahminy kites and pond herons. The ride ends with sunset over the water.

Tea & Vegetable Pakoras
Return to the eco village and enjoy black tea accompanied by freshly fried vegetable pakoras.

Local Music & Bonobibi Pala
Spend the evening with local musicians and their traditional instruments, or enjoy a performance of the Bonobibi Pala, the folk drama of the forest goddess and the tiger deity. Snacks and herbal tea are served.

Dinner
Enjoy dinner at the eco village and settle in for a peaceful night in the Sundarbans.

DAY 02
Into the Wild
Set out early by boat into the jungle, visit three iconic watchtowers and spend the day cruising through the channels in search of the Sundarbans' wildlife.

Start as early as possible aboard one of our four boats and head deep into the jungle for a full day of exploration.
MORNING
Sajnekhali Watchtower
Visit Sajnekhali Watchtower and explore the waterways and mangrove forests while keeping watch for wildlife.
MIDDAY
Sudhanyakhali & Dobanki
Continue through the jungle to Sudhanyakhali and Dobanki watchtowers, exploring different sections of the reserve along the way.

Lunch on Board
Enjoy lunch on board while cruising through the channels and watching the banks for deer, wild boar, crocodiles, dolphins and tiger.

Which Cottage Should You Book?
All three cottages sit inside the same eco village, are built from earth, bamboo and hay, and have attached washrooms with running water and a western commode. The difference is comfort, not location.
Basic Cottage, Rs. 4,400 per person
Fan, lights and charging points, with hot water provided in buckets. Available as twin, triple, four, six and eight person cottages, which makes it the practical choice for families and larger groups.
Deluxe Cottage, Rs. 5,100 per person
Everything in the basic cottage plus air conditioning, with an immersion rod for hot water. Available as twin, triple and four person.
Premium Organic Cottage, Rs. 6,000 per person
The best of the three on aesthetics and comfort, with better mattresses and air conditioning, still built entirely from local material. Twin and triple only.
From November to February the fan-only basic cottage is genuinely comfortable. From March onward, take the deluxe or premium.

- Safari routes are decided by the Tiger Reserve authority on the day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 1 night 2 days enough for a Sundarban trip?
It is enough for one full jungle safari, one night in the delta and one evening of village life. You get most of day two inside the tiger reserve, covering three watchtowers. If you want more than one safari, the 2 Nights 3 Days package is the next step up.
What is the difference between the 1 Night 2 Days and 2 Nights 3 Days packages?
1N2D gives you one full safari on day two and covers Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali and Dobanki. 2N3D adds a second full day on the water, more creeks, a longer village walk and an unhurried final morning. Prices start at Rs. 4,400 and Rs. 5,500 respectively.
How many boat safaris are included in the 1 Night 2 Days package?
One full jungle safari on day two, plus a country boat ride for birdwatching and sunset on the evening of day one. The country boat ride stays outside the core tiger reserve area.
Is the Sundarban 1 Night 2 Days package good for couples?
Yes, and it is the package couples book most often. The premium organic cottage is twin occupancy with air conditioning and better mattresses. The sunset country boat ride and the Bonobibi Pala performance after dinner are the parts most couples remember.
What time do you get back to Kolkata on day two?
Between 9:00 and 10:00 pm. The safari runs through the day, and the return journey starts around sunset. If you have an onward train or flight, do not book anything before 11:00 pm on day two.
